Some people start celebrating Halloween before summer has even ended - and we are some of those people! Join us for our next-to-last meeting of the year to learn about the history of Halloween, presented by the "History Hobo" Steve Cicero! It's the perfect way to start the spooky season!
Date/Time: September 17, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Location: Jennings Environmental Education Center (2951 Prospect Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057)
Presented By: Steve Cicero
Description: The history of America is a story of immigrants. Various groups of new arrivals brought more than luggage when they came here. Our holiday celebrations today have come from all over the world. This program will explain the origins of our Halloween traditions which were largely rooted in ancient religious beliefs and brought to America by our Irish ancestors.
Steve Cicero is a former history instructor in the Butler Area School District. He is active with many historical organizations in Western PA as a part time teacher or volunteer, as well as several retired educator groups. In addition, he is always looking for ways to promote local history and historical sites through presentations and tours. Because he travels far and wide to share the story of America’s past, he is known as “The History Hobo”.
